[MO3.03] Basic Mount Technique (Passing the Guard Grasping the Trousers)

Basic Mount Technique -3.03 [Passing the Guard Grasping the Trousers]

This is another scenario that can happen in the point in the conflagration where uke has been thrown to the ground and you decide to continue the fight to subdue the opponent. If uke is kicking trying to keep you at bay, you can use this to clear the hipline if you choose to go to the ground.

Mount:

Student-1: (Uke) Back to the tatami in the guarding position.

Student- 2: (Tori) Pre-guarding position (Standing).

Execution:
  • (Tori) Grasp uke’s pant legs pull backwards.
  • (Tori) When uke pulls back push his/her legs forwards. Uke will naturally pull his/her legs towards their trunk to get free.
  • (Tori) Get them to bend their knees with their feet on the ground. Slap the knees together and pass the guard in a side-mount.
Practice Options:
  1. (Tori) Clear the hipline and stabilize the side-mount.
  2. (Tori) Practice your strikes, chokes, and locks from the side.
  3. (Uke) Keep uke at bay and do not allow uke to grasp your pant legs.
  4. (Uke) Do not let your knees get slapped together.
  5. (Uke) Strike with your feet from the ground.
  6. (Uke) Trap one of tori’s legs and take them down.
