Part-1 Attacker: Grabs Shoulder from Behind.
Part-2 Defender: Turns, Blocks Punches, and Elbow Strikes
- Spin 180 degrees. This should cause attacker to release grasp.
- Strike arm that has grabbed shoulder with back knuckle strike.
- Pull your arm back slightly and vertical snap punch attacker.
Information: When I first learned this kata, the strike after the spin was a middle block to remove the grasp, but after watching Tatsuo Shimabuku’s 8mm film it is a vertical snap punch with the right hand.
- Grab arm that had grasp your shoulder.
- Step forward with the left foot Seisan-Dachi. Pull the attacker forward and push his/her arm downward.
- Vertical snap punch to attacker’s solar plexus.
Note: The attacker in a worst-case scenario will pull away.
Information: This series turns the attacker opening up the side of his head for attack. This is the first one two combination, or multiple strikes with forward footwork.
- Maintain control of the attacker.
- Elbow strike to the temple
- Reach under the attacker’s armpit grasp his/her shoulder Grip the neck and spin them around 180˚ throw and place the attacker in a Figure-Four Choke.
