MO1.7 Basic Mount Technique- [The Turtle Position]
This is a last-ditch position. If you curl up to protect yourself: you’ll be kicked in the ribs, punched to the back of the head, and punched or kneed in the kidneys. The only good news is you can raise up to your feet from this position it is not immobile like other positions.
Warning: Jujitsu practitioners that were wrestlers will not feel uncomfortable here, but it is a dangerous place to be in an attack. There are too many exposed target areas.
Mount:
Student-1: (Uke) Turtle Position.
Student- 2: (Tori) Back Mount.
Execution:
- (Uke) Cover your head and bring your knees in close to protect your groin and centerline targets.
- (Tori) Make a back mount and deliver blows to uke’s back and head.
Warning: (Uke) Your back, spine, coccyx, and kidneys are exposed.
Practice Options:
- (Tori) should practice throwing palm heels, punches, and elbow strikes.
- (Tori) should place uke in a rear naked choke.
- (Uke) should try to escape and get to their feet or place tori in the guard position.
- (Uke) should try to back out of this position if tori is on your back.
