[KS3.0] Basic Mount Technique-[Perpendicular Heel Thrust Kick]

[KS3.0] Basic Mount Technique-[Perpendicular Heel Thrust Kick]

If you’re given a shot at striking the groin, in personal combat situation, you must take it. In sport grappling the opponent will or should be wearing an athletic groin protector. In a life preservation situation this will be unlikely. To effectively inflict pain to this region of the male anatomy the testicles must be struck so that they’re pushed into the adversary’s trunk. This is a variation of the heel thrust kick. It is effective when the opponent tries to jump over your legs in an effort to gain a top or full mount above the hipline. It is also one location for your foot if you’re throwing an opponent with Tomo-nage (stomach throw). Straighten your leg driving the foot into the groin. The straighter the leg the farther the adversary will fly.

Execution:

  • Student lies on his/her back.
  • Bring one knee up for support placing one foot on the ground.
  • Raise the second foot off the floor.
  • Execute a Perpendicular heel thrust each time the lead instructor kiai.

Note: Do this exercise on both legs.

Target Area:

  • Face (If the attacker is bending over.)
  • Groin (If the attacker straddles your body.)
  • Solar Plexus (If the attacker is bending over.)

Note: Drive the testicles into the attacker’s trunk.

Note: If the attacker is bending over you can heel thrust the Xiphoid process (solar-plexus) or ribs.

Note: Given the opportunity a heel thrust the adversary’s head can cause disorientation or knock them out.

Note: Striking the adversary in the face with this technique can break his/her nose, so it should not be used during randori.
