[T6.02] Tai-otoshi: Variation-1 (Body Drop with Figure-four Shoulder Lock)
[T6.02] Tai-otoshi: Variation-1 (Body Drop with Figure-four Shoulder Lock)
Translation: (Tai) body, (otoshi) drop
This is a variation of Tai-otoshi. Locks can be used in concert with this throw. If the opponent grabs your lapel trap their hand and strike them in the face. Grasp the attacker’s wrist as they try to pull away. Push their arm upwards and place them in a figure-four shoulder lock. At this point you can step behind or spin them around and over your leg. This technique is more effective with a birdwing lock. The main difference between jujitsu and judo is strikes and locks can be used to facilitate the throw.
Warning: Do not attempt these techniques without a qualified AOKK instructor’s supervision.
