[T6.15] Uki-otoshi: (Floating Drop)
Translation: (Uki) floating, (otoshi) drop
This throw is made easier if the adversary is aggressive and charges you. Uki-otoshi is only possible if your kuzushi is perfect. This is not a preferred throw of the AOKK. This throw is also effective if you are larger that the opponent and can easily pull and push them around. This throw is commonly referred to a “Rag Dolling” the opponent.
Warning: Do not attempt these techniques without a qualified AOKK instructor’s supervision.
AOKK Category:
- Dumping Throw
Opening Technique:
Push the opponent backwards until they push forward. When you feel the resistance change directions and yank the opponent out of his/her socks.
Floating Drop:
- As uke moves forward grasp his/her sleeve and grasp uke’s lapel.
- Take a larger than normal step backwards to break the opponent’s balance.
- Pull uke’s sleeve downward while pushing backwards on their shoulder (lapel).
Warning: Never go to the ground if there are multiple opponents.
Note: With this throw you can choose to leave or continue the fight. Follow this technique with an arm-bar, mount above the hips, if choose to continue the fight. If you choose the mount, follow immediately with open hand strikes, closed hand strikes, and elbow strikes. In sport you may choose to apply a choke or lock the opponent to gain a submission.
