[T7.03] Ippon-seoi-nage: Var-3 (Step Ippon seoi-nage)

[T7.03] Ippon-seoi-nage: Var-3

Step Ippon seoi-nage

The is a different approach to the standard application of Ippon-seoi-nage. It begins the same, but as you throw the opponent you step out into a long forward stance.  The key is to get the opponent’s momentum moving forwards and to utilize that energy. For example, if your attacker is running towards you and reaches out to grasp or punch you, at that point you can use their forward momentum to increase the effectiveness of the throw. The first few moves are the same as the traditional Ippon-seoi-nage but you step forwards, as uke moves over your hip, to continue the momentum that uke has already built up. If you do not do this, he/she may be able to knock you forwards and off balance as you try to execute the stand in place traditional throw.
