[T15.07] Pump-handle Arm-bar Dumping Throw

[T15.07] Pump-handle Arm-bar Dumping Throw

This is a throw from a grappling perspective. It can be accomplished while you’re in the process of making an initial grip. The tow grapplers will be trying ot grasp the jujitsu-gi or  the opponent’s wrist. Utilizing a grab of the opposite arm when facing the adversary is suggested because when the grip is handed off it flows better. When I was first dating my wife I had to demonstrate this throw to a couple of high ranking blackbelts. In the process I drove my then girl-friend’s  face into the floor, so be careful because it is hard to break your fall.

Warning: Do not attempt these techniques without a qualified AOKK instructor’s supervision.

AOKK Category:
  • Dumping Throws
Opening Technique:

Grasp the opponent’s wrist and strike to the face as a distraction. Pull uke’s arm down so he/she cannot place you in a headlock or guillotine choke.

Execution:
  • Cross grab uke’s wrist or sleeve.
  • Step to the side of uke and pass the opponent’s hand between their legs.
  • Change hands and pull uke’s hand up creating the arm-bar while pushing the opponent forwards.

Note: Uke can roll out of this technique. If he/she does not roll out they will fall face forwards.

Warning: You must control uke’s fall because during this throw uke’s ability to break their fall is limited.

Grips:
  1. Trap uke’s wrist or sleeve.
