[T15.08] Spinning Osoto-gari (Throw)
[T15.08] Spinning Osoto-gari (Throw)
This is a throw from a striking perspective. Not all throws must come from a grappling posture. Striking and throwing cannot be segregated. Striking is key in all three ranges. This throw combines slipping, blocking, and throwing.
Note: It is never a good idea to turn your back to an opponent in a fight. The spin, in this instance, is to gain momentum to increase the impact of the blow. It is also a nontraditional counterattack meant to catch the adversary by surprise. To perform this series of techniques it must be practiced until it flows without thought.
Warning: Do not attempt these techniques without a qualified AOKK instructor’s supervision.
Note: Throw the adversary forwards with Tai-otoshi if he/she throws their weight forwards, but if they lean backwards throw the opponent backwards with Tani-otoshi.
