[T9.02] Sukui-nage: Variation-2 (Forward Leg Throw with Knee Lock)
Translation: (sukui) scooping, (nage) throw
This also is a throw to counter a rear bear-hug. This is a much more athletic response. If your forward break-falls (ukemi) are excellent, this throw can work for you. With risk there is reward. This is a risky throw in that you adversary can drive your head into the ground if not performed quickly enough. If done properly the attacker receives most of the impact.
Warning: Do not attempt these techniques without a qualified AOKK instructor’s supervision.

Opening Technique:
This throw is a counter to a bear-hug from behind. Strike backwards with your head to he attacker thinking.
Execution:
- Bend forwards and grasp uke’s leg with both hands.
- Next pick-up uke’s leg and roll forwards.
Note: Land on the opponent and focus on the knee lock.
Grips:
- Under-hook uke’s legs with both arms.
Warning: Never go to the ground if there are multiple opponents.
Note: Follow this technique with a knee lock. In sport you may choose to apply a choke or lock the opponent to gain a submission.
