MC11.0 Okuri-eri-jime [Armpit Lapel Strangle]
This is in fact a strangle and not a choke.
A. [From Behind]
Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.
- One hand goes around uke’s throat from behind and tie-off to his/her lapel.
- The other hand goes under uke’s armpit and ties-off the other lapel.
- Pull backwards on the lapels creating a tourniquet to shut off blood flow to the brain.
- Release the choke if uke taps, or the attacker passes out.
B. [From the Turtle Position with Roll]
This is a variation of one of the choke. This can also be used when the Sprawl and Spin defense has been used.
Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.
- Hook uke’s leg with your leg.
- Slide one hand around uke’s throat from behind and tie-off to his/her lapel.
- Slip the other hand under uke’s armpit and tie-off the other lapel.
- Pull on the lapel on the side that has the leg hook.
- Rotate your shoulder and roll uke onto his/her back.
- Release the choke if uke taps, or the attacker passes out.
