MC2.0 Mae-Hadake-Jime (Naked Choke from Front)

Again, this technique dose not utilize any part of your or the opponent’s uniform. It is stronger than the guillotine choke, but it is not as popular and is more difficult to land. You and the opponent will most likely end up on the tatami (mat/floor) face down. Once on the floor your adversary may try to roll out of the choke. This is a hard technique to land because a skilled grappler can shoot in for the double leg with exceptional speed. To make this part of your arsenal it will require a lot of practice with a competent partner.

Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.

Scenario: Uke shoots for a Double-Leg Takedown or Morote-gari.

  • Wrap one arm around uke’s neck like a guillotine choke.
  • Place the hand of the choking arm in the elbow crease of your free arm.
  • Place the hand of your free arm behind your head or behind uke’s.
  • Kick your leg backwards and drop to the tatami.
  • Release the choke if uke taps, or the attacker passes out.
