MC6.0 Guillotine Choke [Choke with Uki-waza]

MC6.0 Guillotine Choke [Choke with Uki-waza]

In jujitsu it is common to utilize a choke with a throw or take-down. In a life preservation situation, you would drive the attacker’s head into the ground, but in practice or randori release the choke and control uke’s fall. This is an effective jujitsu technique and is part of the Fundamentals.

Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.

Warning: Serious injury has occurred from improper utilization of this technique in other jujitsu schools.  Do not use this in randori/kumite.

  • Wrap your arm around the attacker’s throat and tie off to your clothing. The inside bone of the forearm should be pressed into the throat of the attacker.
  • Pull backwards and stick your leg in front of the opponent to throw them with Uki-waza.
  • Release the choke if uke taps, or the attacker passes out.
