SC7.0 Using the Rear Forearm Choke as a Takedown:
Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.
Execution:
- Place uke in a forearm choke from the rear.
- Press your head into theirs.
- Kick your feet back and drop into this throw.
- Release the choke if uke taps, or the attacker passes out.
Warning: Release the choke during practice before dropping to the tatami.
Warning: Never go to the ground if there are multiple opponents.
Defense against a rear forearm choke:
- Do not let the opponent drop their body weight.
- Sink the lock under the chin. The bone of forearm (Radius) must be pressed against the throat. Clasp hands and press your palms together. Rotate the wrist of the forearm that is applying the choke away from the forearm.
- Pull the radius tightly against the opponent’s throat.
- Kick your feet backwards placing all your weight on the choke.
- Press your head tight against the opponent’s head and push forwards while pulling backwards against his/her throat with your forearm.
Note: The opponent should be pulled backwards and down to the mat.
