ML2.2 Figure Four Birdwing (Double Wrist Lock) [Kimura]
Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.
Execution:
Attacker reaches up from the ground to two-hand choke you.
- When the attacker reaches up, grasp his wrist with the opposite hand, and push it backwards and down to the tatami (mat).
- Slide you other hand under the attacker’s trapped arm and tie off to the arm that is grasping the attacker’s wrist.
- Create a figure four arm-bar using your underneath arm as a fulcrum.
- Pull uke’s elbow backwards while slightly lifting the joint.
- Release the lock when uke taps, or help arrives to subdue your attacker
Note: There is only a small area to create this lock, and some people are more flexible than others. You may need to pull up with your forearm while pushing downward with the other hand and pull uke’s arm backwards.
