[ML4.02] Ankle Lock Variation-2 (From Seated Position)
[ML4.02] Ankle Lock Variation-2 (From Seated Position)
The worst place you can find yourself is with your opponent on your back, but it happens. The opponent will try a choke from behind most likely Hadaka-jime. If the opponent can execute the sprawl and spin defense they will be on your back if you shoot for Morote-gari or a double leg takedown. Before they can wrap their legs around your waist, you need to pin one of uke’s legs with your buttocks and then apply this ankle lock.
Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.
Execution:
Attacker is on your back after you’ve gotten to the seated position. (Sprawl and Spin Counterattack)
- From the turtle position or all fours perform a set-out maneuver.
- Before the opponent can place you in a rear choke shift your hips and pin one of the adversary’s legs.
- Grasp his/her ankle and pull the foot upward.
- Trap the ankle with one hand and toes with the other.
- Twist the toes towards the knee and pull backwards.
Note: This is a do or die technique. If uke gets you in a rear choke, the fight is over. If he/she gets their legs around your waist they’re in total control.
