ML5.1 Step Over Spine Lock (aka Boston Crab)

This is a technique that can be performed if you’re placed in the guard. The problem is it that it is dangerous. If you’re placed in the lock tap immediately. Don’t take a chance.  

Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.  

Execution:

Attacker Places you in the guarding position

  • Grasp uke’s legs under his/her knees.
  • Stand up and hook uke’s feet under your armpits.
  • Roll uke over and step over his/her legs.
  • Sit down into a horse stance.
  • To apply pressure, lean backwards.
  • Immediately release the lock when uke taps.

Warning: This is a very dangerous lock. If you lose your balance and fall backwards you can injure your training partners spine.  When practicing this maneuver, be very careful.
