SL2.3 Outside Birdwing Lock from Outside Arm-bar: [Stepping outside the arm]

Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.

Execution:

The attacker grabs your lapel.

  • Trap uke’s hand and snap punch to ribs [Loosening-up technique]
  • Slide your punching hand between uke’s arm and ribcage.
  • Place the palm of your hand on uke’s elbow locking the elbow.
  • Push uke’s arm backwards.
  • Step around and behind uke and place his/her arm on your shoulder as you rotate.

    The attacker bends elbow to escape Outside Arm-bar.

  • When uke bends the elbow, push down on his/her elbow joint with the hand closest to your shoulder. Aid the bending of the joint.
  • Press their wrist into your shoulder and push his/her arm behind their back and push their wrist towards their head.
  • Tie off to the attacker’s clothing with the arm making the lock.
  • Throw uke to the tatami (mat) with Tai-otoshi (Body Drop).
