[Cntr-19] Hadaka-jime Counter (Ankle Lock) Variation-3

[Cntr-19] Hadaka-jime Counter (Ankle Lock) Variation-3

If you shoot forward for a leg takedown, you may find yourself in the Turtle position if the opponent knows the Sprawl and Spin defense. To stay out of this position you can use the sit-out and roll defense counter. This is a scenario you can find yourself in if you’ve successfully performed a “sit-out” from the Turtle position, but you are unable to roll and face your opponent. If your opponent gets to your back and wraps their legs around your waist, you’re in trouble. You must stop them before they can control your movements. This is one technique you can use in that instance.

Note: The “Sit-out and Roll” maneuver is common to wrestlers, but it also has its place in jujitsu. The difference is in jujitsu you never want to give up your back because it can be targeted, and in wrestling this is not a striking target. The sit-out and roll maneuver is used when you’re in trouble because it gives you the possibility of getting back to your feet by rolling or at minimum turning so the opponent can be placed the in the guarding position.

Warning: This technique should only be practiced with a qualified AOKK instructor present.
