[3.1.1] Tokomini Bunkai Section-3 (Hand Strip)

[3.1.1] Tokomini Bunkai Section-3 (Hand Strip)

Note: One of the simplest techniques that a student learns is how to strip the adversary’s hand from the weapon. This bunkai helps with that development.

Guarding Position:

Adversary:
  • Standing in the guarding position
Defender:
  • Thrust the Bo under the attacker’s weapon between his/her hands and strike the abdomen.
  • Turn your body sideways while rotating the end of the Bo and pulling your weapon to your chest.

Note: This should pull the opponent’s lead hand from the weapon.

Note: In the kata this is the endo the series of technique, but to make the bunkai more viable you must add an ending attack.

  • Horizontal strike with the rear of the Bo.
