[12.4.0] Chinto Section-12 Kaishaku: Counter to a Grabs for a Round House Knee

Note: This series is different than that other similar movements within the kata. In this series you step back into a crane stance. This is to create distance to lessen the impact of the knee strike. It also sets-up the reap.

Part-1 Attacker: Grabs from Front
  • Grabs around your neck to deliver a knee strike.
Part-2 Defender: Attacker’s Grasp
  • Step behind into a Crane stance.
  • Push your arms between the attacker’s grasp and break their grasp upward by wedging your elbows outward.

Note: If possible, drive you fists into the attacker’s chin,

Part-3 Attacker: Rotates hips for horizontal knee strike.
Part-4 Defender: Attacker’s Grasps Attacker’s Knee and Throws
  • Trap the attacker’s knee with your rear hand.
  • Sweep your front leg behind the attacker’s leg.
  • Drive a horizontal elbow into the attacker’s ribs.
