[4.4.0] Kusanku Section-4 Kaishaku: Counter to a Shuto Strike

[Source:] [Isshin-ryu Black Belt]
[Rating:] AOKK Preferred Bunkai
Part-1 Attacker shuto strikes

Note: This strike to the side of the neck disrupts blood flow to the brain. This momentary disruption of blood flow can leave you vulnerable to a disabling strike.

Part-2 Defender: Shuto Blocks and Strike with the Palm

Note: Keeping your hands up allows you to respond more quickly to this type of attack. If your hands are down, you cannot respond quickly enough to stop an attack like this one.

  • Knife-hand block and then grasp the attacker’s wrist with the same hand (LH) pull the attacker forwards.
  • Maintain control of the attacker’s wrist.(LH)
  • Strike palm up to groin (RH).
  • Vertical Snap Punch with same hand (RH).

Note: This is a very condensed version of the hanto techniques.

Note: This traumatizes the attacker. If the testicles are struck correctly, it can end the altercation.

Note: The same hand can be used to make more than one attack. This is demonstrated in this portion of bunkai. You do not need to strike once with the left side and then once with the right hand.
