[9.5.0] Wansu Bunkai Section-9: Counter to a Reverse Punch

[9.5.0] Wansu Section-9 Kaishaku: Counter to a Reverse Punch

[Source:] [AKKA Isshin-ryu Black-belt]
Rating: Basic

Information: The knee is designed to bend to the front, so it must be attacked from the front or the sides. Bending the knee protects it from the frontal attack, but it is most weak when attacked sideways from the inside.

Part-1 Attacker: Throws a Straight Right
Part-2 Defender: Trap Punch and Side Kick Inside the Knee
  • Grasp the attacker’s arm and break his/her balance.
  • Side kick to the inside of the attacker’s knee.

Note: Damage an attacker’s mobility and you have the advantage.

Remember: Attack the lower body targets with your legs and the upper body with your arms.

Note: This kick can be used to widen an attacker’s stance if you desire to throw the opponent. A throw would be considered a suffix to the bunkai or something added onto the series.

[End Series]
