[9.2.0] Sunsu Section-9 Kaishaku: Counter to a Lapel Grab

Information:

When someone grasps your wrist or clothing it is to keep you in their range of combat for a sucker punch or to facilitate a throw. Failure to react fast enough and you’ll be on your back. This is not a good place to be unless you’re in a BJJ competition.

Part-1 Attacker: One Hand Lapel Grab
Part-2 Defender: Elbow Lock and Spear Finger Strike
  • Step backwards to elongate to create distance and break the attacker’s balance.
  • Strike downward on the attacker’s controlling arm. (LH)
  • Wrap your (LH) arm around the attacker’s trapped arm and tie off to the material of the attacker’s garment.
  • Execute a standing elbow-lock.
  • Palm heel strike to the attacker’s chin or spear-finger strike the Xiphoid Process. (RH)
  • Release the lock.
  • Spear finger strike left hand <Solar Plexus>
Part-3 Defender: Throw the Attacker [Suffix Technique]
  • Grasp the assailant’s sleeve and wrap your arm around his/her waist.
  • Step across with the right leg.
  • Drive your gluteus maxim us into the assailant and throw him/her over your hip. (O-goshi)
