[2.5.0] Section-2 Kaishaku: Counter to a Wrist Grab

[Source:] AOKK Isshin-ryu Black-belt
[Rating:] Basic
Part-1 Attacker: Grabs Wrist (to control your movement)
  • Attacker grabs wrist with their (RH).
Part-2 Defender: Escapes Attacker’s Grasp.
  • Chop down on the attacker’s wrist with your free hand. (RH)

Note: This is the hand that returns to your obi (belt).

  • Execute what looks like a middle block attacking the adversary’s thumb freeing your hand. Rotate the hand that copped down on the wrist at the obi. (LH)

Note: The natural rotation of the block applies pressure to the attacker’s thumb and removes the attacker’s grip.

Part-3 Defender Counterattacks
  • Snap punch the attacker’s solar plexus/throat, with the free hand before he/she can pull away. (RH)

Note: The counterattack must be made in one fluid motion. There should be not block then strike cadence.

Note: The hand pulled back to obi is the one driven forward to the attacker’s solar-plexus. Pulling the hand to the obi loads the fist for the punch.
