[5.3.1] Naihanchin Section-5 Bunkai: Counter to a Front Kick

[5.3.1] Naihanchin Section-5 Kaishaku: (Counter to a Front Kick)
[Source:] Shorin-Ryu Black-belt
[Rating:]
Part-1 Attacker: Front Kicks
Note: Low block and Spear-finger portion of series only.
Part-2 Defender: Low Blocks
- Move back slightly and execute a low hammer fist block to deflect the kick.
Note: This kata assumes that you’re in a side stance fighting to the side you’re facing.
Part-3 Defender Spear-finger Strike
- As the kick is deflected push the leg to the side causing the attacker to turn his/her back as they place their foot on the ground.
- Execute a Spear-finger strike to the ribs, solar plexus, or palm-heel strike or punch to the ribs/solar plexus.
Information: Most versions of Naihanchin have a punch in this series and not a spear-finger strike, so this would be a punch and not a spear-finger strike.
