[7.3.0] Kusanku Section-7 Bunkai (Counter to a Front Kick)

[Source:] [Isshin-ryu/Jujitsu Black Belt]
[Rating:] Moderate
Part-1 Attacker: Front Snap Kicks
Part-2 Defender: Block front kick
  • Shoot inside the kicker’s thigh, so he/she cannot develop power within the kick.
  • Trap the attacker’s kick wrap your arm under his/her thigh.

Note: This takes the power out of the kick and closes the distance to range-two.

Note: The leg throw should be enough to take the attacker down. When an adversary is on one leg, they can be thrown in any direction.  If they grab you, they once again have some balance, so you may need to reap the support leg.

Part-3 Attacker: Tries to Pull Out of Your Grasp
Part-4 Defender: Throw with Kouchi-gari
  • Shuffle forwards and wrap your lead leg around the attacker’s support leg while maintain control of the attacker’s other leg.
  • Pop straight up and push backwards to break the attacker’s balance.
  • Throw the attacker backwards to the ground while reaping his/her support leg (Kouchi-gari).
