Isshin ryu Seiuchin-dachi or Shiko-dachi

Seiuchin-dachi or Shiko-dachi:

This stance is a close relative of the Horse-Riding Stance. The only difference is in the placement of the feet.

Foundation:

  • Keep the back is straight.
  • Keep the chin up, head straight, and eyes forward.
  • Weight is evenly distributed.
  • Feet are pointed on a forty-five-degree angle.
  • Knees are bent deeply as if you were setting in a chair.

Note:  Some Okinawan instructors claim that the hips are pulled forwarding this stance as they’re done in Sanchin, but that does not fit with the bunkai I’ve learned for this stance in the Seiuchin kata
