AOKK Kumite: Bobbing Technique

Bobbing is when you move up and down under a punch to avoid getting hit. Be sure to cover your head and ribs during the execution of this technique. It can be to one side only or it can be done twice. An example of this would be to duck under to the outside and then avoid the opponent’s second punch by bobbing back inside. Do this three times in a row, and the opponent will get your rhythm, and next you’ll be trying to clear your head after he drops you with a hook punch that you ran into. The technique is almost completely done in place with your legs. A quick fighter can dive a cross forward as the bob hits its’ lowest point. The bob is also used to deliver an uppercut or hook. Duck under the punch and pop up with uppercut or hook.
