AOKK Kumite: Rolling

AOKK Kumite: Rolling

Rolling is like swaying, but the movement is in a circle. The roll begins to the side and backwards culminating with a circle that brings the fighter around the opponent’s punch to setup a counter strike. You may need to step backwards to get out of punching range and then roll forward, so you’re inside the opponent’s guard. If you’re too tight, when roll forward, range two techniques may need to be brought into play. Rolling is slow and difficult, but it can surprise your opponent if it is timed correctly.

In rolling you move both your head and shoulders. This technique is made by bending the knees. Keep the lead shoulder forward to protest the chin. As you come out of the roll you must throw a hook or uppercut.
