[13.1.1] Urashi-no-Kun Bunkai Series-13: (High Horizontal Push Block)

(Kata Series 11) (Step-35,36)

Note: This is a basic technique.

Attacker:
  • Vertical downward strike.
Defender:
  • Stop the strike with the front of the Bo with a High Horizontal block.

Note: In the kata the Bo is on an angle. Most kobudo students think the horizontal block is made with the area between the hands, but it can be made with any of the three sectors available. (Front, Back, Middle)

  • Push the attacker’s Bo away as swing the front of the weapon over your head.
  • Strike the attacker’s head with the front of the Boas it completes its’ circular motion.

Note: The Horizontal push block can also be a strike.

FYI: All blocks should be followed by a strike
