[14.1.1] Urashi-no-Kun Bunkai Series-14: (Lock and Throw)

[14.1.1] Urashi-no-Kun Bunkai Series-14: (Lock and Throw)

(Kata Series 13) (Step-43,44)

Note: Winding the tip of the Bo under the opponent’s armpit and chest.

  • If the opponent releases their Bo you may not be able to make the throw.
  • If the opponent releases their weapon, kick them or stomp on the front of the Bo if it drops downward.
Attacker:
  • Strike with the front of the Bo. (Hands)
Defender:
  • Horizontal strike to the attacker’s weapon.
  • Push the front of the Bo under the opponent’s armpit and across the opponent’s throat or chest.
  • Raise the weapon over your head and place the weapon on your shoulder.
  • Turn and throw the attacker.

Note: If you only wind the Bo around the opponent’s arm, you may still be able to throw the opponent if their Bo is pressed against your waist.

Note: You may not be able to move the Bo over head and onto your shoulders to use your neck as a pivot point. Lowering your hips can help you duck under the Bo to place it on your shoulders. As you push forward with your lead hand, push backwards with your neck.

Note: The key to this technique is that most fighters will not release the weapon.
