[15.1.1] Shi Shi-No-Kun Bunkai Series-15: (Horizontal Block)

(Kata Series 10) (Step-37,38,39)  

Note:  This block is made by pushing the weapon up horizontally. The blocking area is the front, rear, and middle.

Attacker:
  • Vertical downward strike.
Defender:
  • Block the strike with the front of the Bo.
  • Strike down with a vertical strike and pull the rear of the Bo to your left hip.
  Attacker:
  • Block the vertical strike with the front of the Bo.
  • Diagonal strike with the rear of the Bo and next diagonal strike with the front of the Bo. (Head and Foot)
  Defender:
  • Diagonal block the first strike with the front of your weapon and block the second with the bottom of the weapon.
  Attacker:
  • Vertical strike with the rear of the Bo to the head.
Defender:
  • Horizontal block the downward vertical strike with the middle of the Bo between the hands.
  • Push the front of the Bo between the attacker’s hand and weapon.
  • Spin CCW to strip the Bo and move away from your attacker. This creates distance.
  • Diagonal strike with the front of your weapon and strike with the bottom of the weapon.
