AOKK Under Hook Shoulder with Wrist Control Grip

AOKK Under Hook Shoulder with Wrist Control Grip

Implementation:

This is a favorite method to set-up a hip throw because you can lift and twist the opponent’s shoulders to break their balance.

Execution:

Block the attacker’s blows until you get inside. Pull the opponent close. A head-butt will loosen up the opponent. Slide one arm under the opponent’s armpit and tie-off to the top of the opponent’s shoulder, lapel, or triceps muscle. With your other arm tie-up the opponent’s wrist, obi, or grasp his/her sleeve. Remember uke has one free hand to strike with. Once you’ve made the grip execute the throw.

Suggested Throws:

Seoi-nage (Shoulder Throw), Hane-goshi (Springing Hip), Hari-goshi (Sweeping Hip Throw), Ogoshi (Major Hip Throw)

Suggested Counters:

Hip check the throws. Drop to one knee and execute Tani-otoshi.
