Fundamental #14: Tiger’s mouth strike with O-soto-gari
Warning: Do not attempt this without a qualified AOKK jujitsu instructor’s supervision.
- Both fighter’s step into fighting stance.
- Uke: Double Lapel Grab
- Tori: Trap Uke’s hand and ear slap the opponent’s ear.
- Tori: Place the opponent in a wrist lock when he/she reacts to the slap.
- Tori: Tiger’s Mouth strike to the Uke’s throat.
- Tori: Step Behind the adversary.
- Tori: Pull Uke backwards and throw with O-soto-gari.
- Tori: Heel thrust to Uke’s face.
- Tori: Figure-four arm-bar on the mat.
Purpose of Technique Fundamental #14:
This fundamental teaches the principle of the ear slap and the use of O-soto-gari. It also introduces the ability to continue the attack from a standing position once the opponent has been taken down. Next is a continuation from range two to range three to develop the student’s ability to transition.
Warning: When practicing this technique release the choke and simply drop the Uke backwards. Uke must be skilled in the backwards break-fall.
