[2.1.10] Seiunchin Section-2 Bunkai: Counter to a Lapel Grab

[2.1.10] Seiunchin Section-2 Bunkai: Counter to a Lapel Grab

[Source:] Pressure Point Black-belt
[Rating:] Moderate

Information: This is a version from Goju ryu. In that style the stance is on an angle and not straight. This angle changes the bunkai slightly.

Part-1 Attacker: Grasps Lapels
Part-2 Defender: Pressure Point & Neck Twist
  • Drive your arms between the attackers.
  • Rotate the hands over and press downward on the attacker’s forearms.

Note: This breaks the grasp.

  • Palm strike to the side of the attacker’s head (LH).
  • Ridge hand strike with the (RH).
  • Grasp the back of the opponent’s hair (RH).
  • Press the Triple Warmer -17 under the jaw with two fingers. (LH)
  • When the attacker reacts to the pain and turns his/her head, cup the chin and twist the neck. Pull the attacker’s head to your hip.
  • Throw the attacker to the ground.

Location of Pressure Point: In the indentation behind the ear lobe between the mastoid process and the jawbone. [Wind Screen] This is a push and rub point.

Information: I am not a big pressure point advocate. I do know that there are striking points on the jaw that can drop an opponent.

Nerves: This is the location where the facial nerves come out from behind the ear.
