MO3.10 Basic Mount Technique [Bump-Off]
MO3.10 Basic Mount Technique [Bump-Off]:
This only works when uke is high above your hipline. This is a do or die move because uke has already passed your hipline and has a definite advantage. This technique has a low percentage of success technique, but you’re in a bad position, so you must try everything.
Mount:
Student-1: (Tori) Back to the tatami in the guarding position.
Student-2: (Uke) Top mount above student -1’s hipline.
Execution:
- (Tori) Work your hips backwards until uke is too high above your waist once uke has crossed your hip line.
- (Tori) Arch your back and bump them over your head while you pull backwards and out of uke’s grasp.
Note: This is a low percentage technique, but it can be effective against unskilled fighters. It does however take a great amount of body and neck strength to perform this escape properly.
Note: You can bump uke forwards little by little until he/she is in the position where the bump-off technique can be applied.
Practice Options:
- (Tori) Tie up uke’s arms and work your shoulders under uke’s base.
- (Tori) Practice submissions from the bottom.
- (Uke) Do not let tori tie up your arms and maintain the top-mount.
- (Uke) Administer strikes and practice submissions.
