Original Version of Seiuchin
This was sensei when he was young. When I need a dose of humility, I watch my Naihanchin, Seisan, and Seiuchin kata performances. Yes… it is a little different than the way we teach it now in the AOKK. This was how I learned it under my first Isshin-ryu instructor.
Note: The tension and heavy ibuki breathing, in the first three series of technique, was added after a conversation my first instructor had with Robert Trias sensei. These were moves that required strength, so the techniques became a sort of isometric exercise. Later, I learned that techniques done slowly, in kata, with isometrics were techniques that always required physical strength. This isometric exercise is found in many versions of Sanchin kata.
